Local departure by coach or Home Connect service then on to Ilfracombe for a seven-night stay.
A village like no other, this ancient fishing village clings to the 400 foot cliff-side and is famous for being traffic-free, where donkeys and sledges help the locals make their way up and down the steep, cobbled streets that lead down to the harbour. On your way back up, why not take a break at one of the cosy pubs for a plate of local seafood or a Devonshire cream tea in one of the many cafés, or you may prefer to take one of the local Land Rovers back to the top (extra charges payable locally, subject to availability).
Enjoy a day at leisure in Ilfracombe or why not join our optional excursion to Barnstaple and Bideford?
Barnstaple is an ancient market town situated on the River Taw, and here you will find a traditional pannier market, along with the usual high street shops, indoor shopping centres and local stores.
We then continue to pretty Bideford. Once Britain's third largest port, the town still has maritime connections, but today is best known as a thriving shopping centre with a historic Pannier market, the popular Atlantic Shopping Village and quirky shops that line the streets.
The optional excursions will be available to book during your tour.
Prices are per person and are subject to change. Payment will be in sterling (cash payments only).
Enjoy a scenic drive across Exmoor National Park. Straddling the counties of Devon and Somerset, Exmoor National Park is famous for its ponies, unspoilt coastline and dreamy night skies.
We travel through the heart of the park, admiring the scenery along the way, to reach medieval Dunster, a village steeped in history and home to over 200 listed buildings. Meander the winding cobbled streets that trace their way through the higgledy-piggledy thatched cottages, dotted with cute shops and quaint tearooms.
Enjoy a day at leisure in Ilfracombe to explore at your own pace. From its picturesque historic harbour of quaint pastel coloured houses, 14th Century chapel perched on Lantern Hill and Damien Hirst’s statue Verity standing guard at the entrance surrounded by dramatic clifftop scenery. With its stunning beaches and coves including the famous Tunnels Beaches, great eateries, numerous art and craft galleries, independent shops, activities and attractions galore it truly is the perfect destination. Why not book a cruise from the harbour to explore the coast and wildlife.
Another chance to relax and explore our base in Ilfracombe or why not join our optional excursion to Lynton & Lynmouth. Lynton is located 500 feet above its twin village of Lynmouth on the spectacular north devon coastline. The two towns are connected by a funicular railway that offers wonderful views across the bay and a unique experience.
The optional excursions will be available to book during your tour.
Prices are per person and are subject to change. Payment will be in sterling (cash payments only).
Enjoy an excursion visiting Arlington Court which is a National Trust Property. This Grade II listed Regency house has a carriage museum and picturesque garden. The house has been owned by the Chichester family for over 500 years. The Carriage Museum in the stables has a vehicle for every occasion ranging from elegant coaches used for state occasions to humble carts that would have carried servants.
