We continue southwards with a leisurely drive to our hotel in Jerez de la Frontera for a six-night stay.
Today we take the opportunity to explore Jerez de la Frontera. Our guide will offer an insight into its rich cultural heritage, sharing with us the history and production of its famous sherry wine and bodegas (wine cellars), before enjoying a tasting at the Bodegas Tio Pepe.
We’re in for a real Spanish treat this afternoon as we enjoy a traditional flamenco show.
We start the day with a guided tour of Sanlúcar de Barrameda, situated at the mouth of the Guadalquivir River. As well as being known for its stunning beaches, the town showcases ancient churches and breathtaking historic landmarks like the Castillo de Santiago. There’ll be free time in the town – perhaps indulge in one of the many traditional seafood dishes that the province is famous for, before embarking on a relaxing cruise to Doñana National Park.
Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of Europe’s largest nature reserves, Doñana National Park is home to a unique ecosystem of sand dunes, marshlands and forests. Its proximity to the meeting point between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean seas makes it a spot for some incredible wildlife.
We spend today exploring the capital of Andalucía, and one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, Seville. Our walking tour will take us past the wealth of cultural treasures on offer, including the stunning Alcázar Palace and the impressive Gothic cathedral.
In the afternoon, we’ll get to experience Seville from a whole new perspective as we take a cruise along the River Guadalquivir.
We’ll head to the ancient port city of Cádiz, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe, known for its rich history and culture.
After taking in the historic atmosphere, we’ll enjoy an afternoon boat trip across the Bay of Cádiz to El Puerto de Santa María. This pretty coastal town is famous for its golden beaches, sherry bodegas, and historical sites – perfect for an afternoon stroll around the cobbled streets.
We travel northwards through Spain and into the Basque country, before arriving at our overnight hotel in the Biarritz area.
We continue to the northern France or Paris for an overnight stay.
Return home.
