Local departure by coach or Home Connect service, then to Belgium for an overnight stay.
Today we continue through Germany and southwards into the Austrian Tyrol, reaching our hotel in time for dinner.
This morning you will visit Rattenberg, the smallest town in Tyrol. The city has almost completely preserved its medieval townscape and is known today as the Tyrolean home of glass and crystal. We visit one of the showrooms and see the artisans at work.
Continue to the shores of the largest alpine lake in Tyrol, Lake Achensee. Enjoy an included leisurely boat trip and perhaps a stroll by the lake before returning to your hotel.
Ride on this nostalgic train and enjoy a little schnapps and some folk music along the way. Take in the views of the majestic mountains as your train chugs along the Ziller Valley.
Before going back to our hotel, we make a stop in Fügen and visit the Show Cheese Dairy there. See how the Austrian Cheese is produced and maybe you'll also have the chance to taste some of it!
Please note: The Ziller Valley Railway may feature a diesel engine. The hills are alive with the sound of music. Visit Salzburg, the Mozart capital of the world and home of the ever-popular movie “The Sound of Music”.
The guided walking tour of this magical city will show you some of the many highlights. Admire the baroque splendour of the churches and cathedral, the might of the Hohensalzburg fortress, and also the quaint Getriedegasse, which with its wrought iron signs that overhang the doors, is one of the most beautiful shopping streets of Austria.
We include a typical lunch in Salzburg, and there will be free time in the city for shopping and sightseeing before we return to our hotel.
We head to Niedernsill where we board the Pinzgau train.
For more than 100 years, this narrow gauge railway has been winding along the picturesque Salzach Valley. During the day we will visit Krimml Falls, the highest Waterfalls in Europe and the 5th highest in the world. Walk down to the base of the falls or follow the trail up the side for a close-up experience of this breathtaking spectacle.
This is a must for photographers and nature lovers. Don’t forget your brolly, as even on the sunniest days there can be quite a lot of spray!
Enjoy a relaxing day at leisure in resort.
We leave Austria behind and make our way back towards Belgium for our final overnight stay.
Return home.
You will stay for six nights in the 3-star Hotel Harfenwirt in the town of Niederau.

Wonderful hotel and staff. Beautiful scenery with lots of excursions. Visit to Cheese Dairy was disappointing as we weren't given a demonstration of how cheese was made.

Drivers were very attentive and there was so much in the he tour. Was very a scenic in places. Hotel could have supplied shampoo and soap as well as an iron but overall was a great experience

Trip includes only 2 short train journeys. So is wrongly named. Good local hotel. Trip to cheese making dairy was very poor. A short video which stopped working before the end& no-one in room to fix it, then we were led to the shop! No tour of cheese making process. All over in half an hour, just a ploy to get visitors to buy their expensive products. The worst thing for me was having booked a Slver Service coach was eing downgraded to an Executive one. This meant spending a lot of hours in very cramped uncomfortable conditions . Very pleased with our two drivers, the best.

It was a good tour well arranged drives were excellent The only thing that was very disappointing was the tour to the cheese factory which was a waste of time and needs removing from the tour itinerary and replacing with something better maybe a trip up one of the many cablecar rides ..

Thé tour was good overall. Two points that were not good were that we were to go on 2 trains but ended up only going on one. This took an hour to resolve and we went back to hotel. Another was regarding the two drivers who took us from 24 to Donington (no information from them and they were a bit arrogant). The relief driver had to come down from Nottingham (which is where the two should have taken us). They then went and did not leave keys to the coach. What a shambles and at this point from 24 to Donington. The relief driver from .Nottingham was very good and obliging.
