Today we visit the mighty Father Rhine. Nowhere else in the world can you find such a high castle density as on the Rhine between Bingen and Koblenz. We head first to Koblenz, at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle, the German Corner.

Afterwards you continue to Kamp, from where we take a cruise to St. Goarshausen, passing the famous 'Loreley'. We disembark and rejoin our coach to continue to bustling Rüdesheim. A visit to the famous Drosselgasse is definitely worth it!

Today you will explore the lower Moselle valley, where the vineyards cling to steep terraced slopes. We visit picturesque wine villages, with half-timbered houses, winding alleys and romantic wine-growing estates.

Firstly, we visit the romantic town of Cochem, which is dominated by the imperial castle. We continue by boat, including lock passage to Beilstein, the 'Sleeping Beauty' of the Moselle. This dreamy wine-growing village has retained its medieval atmosphere. The Moselle excursion is rounded off with an optional wine tasting.

Overall we had a lovely time, we were blessed with sunny weather all week and saw a lot of picturesque scenery. Sadly the holiday was let down by a far greater amount of travel on the coach and not enough time on the river trips, than expected. The drivers were very good, but definitely not tour guides or couriers. We could have done with more information about the days out with points of interest being highlighted, over and above that written on the script which we already had a copy of. There should be notice in the advertising bumf for this holiday as there is quite a lot of walking to be done due to the coach not being able to get close to the embarkation points, and the less able/more elderly struggled. Hotels were basic but comfortable, service was good and friendly.
