This event has been entertaining visitors for the past 180 years and is the oldest sea regatta on the northeast coast. With sailing competitions and boat races to watch in the bay, plus other attractions including vintage cars and bikes, and an aerial display by the Red Arrows, it is a fun day for all in Whitby!

Regional departure by coach, then enjoy a direct journey to Scarborough for a two-night stay. You'll arrive in the afternoon to make the most of the resort.
In this seaside town, you can wander along the sandy beaches and take in the fresh sea air, or visit the historic Scarborough Castle for stunning views and a glimpse into the past. The town’s quaint stores and local cafés invite you to enjoy a spot of shopping and a bite to eat, while the colourful and inviting South Bay area is perfect for a relaxed afternoon by the sea.

Today we head along the coast to the picturesque seaside town of Whitby to experience the regatta. This highly anticipated event is a celebration of maritime tradition and community spirit.
With a history of over 180 years, Whitby Regatta features exciting boat races competing on the waters of Whitby Harbour. You can watch a variety of vessels, with everything from traditional fishing boats to modern racing crafts.
Alongside the races, there are plenty of other activities including live music and dance performances. The event also showcases local crafts, food stalls, and various entertainment options, creating a fantastic atmosphere for all to enjoy.
Attending the regatta provides a wonderful opportunity to experience the charm of Whitby, enjoy the thrill of competitive sailing, and take part in a cheerful celebration by the sea. It’s a perfect chance to soak up the atmosphere and savour local delights – be sure to sample the famous fish and chips!
After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we depart and and enjoy our direct journey home.
